Chief Executive Officer & Founding Managing Partner
Howard Fischer founded Basso Capital in 1994 in partnership with a subsidiary of AIG, and is now the Chief Executive Officer of the firm. Howard also serves as the portfolio manager of Basso's dedicated SPAC fund and oversees the firm’s marketing and administrative processes.
Previously he was the head trader and co-manager of the institutional convertible trading desk at Smith Barney with primary responsibilities in market making, new-issue pricing and proprietary trading. Prior to Smith Barney Howard was a convertible trader at Drexel Burnham Lambert and at Cohen Feit & Company. Before his trading career he was a Certified Public Accountant in both public and private practice.
Howard serves as CFO of the Board of Directors of the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) and on the boards of 1% for the Planet and The Carbon Underground. He holds a B.S.E. in Accounting and Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In 2013 and 2014 he was a fellow and senior fellow at Harvard’s Advanced Leadership Initiative.
Howard is also the co-founder of Gratitude Railroad an investment firm focused on educating, inspiring and catalyzing capital into positive impact investments.
